Eye Examinations

Children's

It is recommended that children have an eye examination by the age of 3, especially if you think there may be a problem. The earlier uncorrected visual problems are detected, the better chance there is of correcting them.

Whilst basic sight tests can be carried out by GPs or health visitors, these checks are not as comprehensive as a full eye examination conducted by an Optometrist. Please do not worry if your child is unable to read or has a poor attention span as there are many ways to assess their vision.

Children up to the age of 16 (or 19 if in full time education) are entitled to an NHS examination every 12 months at no charge. If the child is 16 or under, they are also entitled to an NHS voucher which can be used to provide a free pair of spectacles or, alternatively, used towards a more extensive range of children’s frames.

REGULAR EYE EXAMINATIONS

Regular eye exams can lead to early detection and treatment of common eye problems such as cataracts, glaucoma and age related macula degeneration. Assessment or your eye health can also help to detect conditions which affect the whole body.

EXPERT ADVICE YOU CAN RELY ON

At the end or your eye exam the optometrist will fully discuss the results with you. They will conclude any options for vision correction if it is required and give advice on maintaining eye health.
